Over 500 Arabic teachers come together at Living Arabic event
November 13, 2017, 4:10 am GMTMore than 500 Arabic language educators participated in the latest edition of the Living Arabic forum hosted by the KHDA at the School of Research Science. The forum was hosted under the theme "Innovative Methodologies: Future Practices".
Sessions at the forum discussed innovative ideas to teach Arabic and encourage Arabic teachers to share successful experiences with others. During the forum, teachers presented the findings of an action research project that looked at addressing some of the challenges faced by language teachers.
Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation CEO H.E. Jamal Bin Huwaireb presented the keynote address, where he pointed out that meeting teachers from a diverse set of schools is especially important as it provides a variety of experiences.
He said: "You are the ones who create a passion for Arabic in our children. You are the ones who nurture, follow and motivate young minds. When we teach our children the basics and grammar of the language in innovative ways, I trust that they will start loving the language once again."
Living Arabic is a platform where educators come together to share and develop innovative solutions for language teaching and learning in line with the education goals of the UAE National Agenda's Vision 2021. The initiative has hosted more than 300 workshops for teachers over the last two years.
KHDA CEO Fatma Al Marri said: "Living Arabic has become a platform that encourages Arabic teachers to collaborate and share positive practices. In the last three years, we have seen more than 300 meetings and workshops being hosted for teachers. With the launch of the third season of Living Arabic, we will continue to work with our teachers and schools to further spread passion for Arabic language and meet the aspirations of a diverse community of native and non-native speakers."
