The UAE Ministry of Education will host a Teachers' Cultural Awareness Day (TCAD) for new teachers appointed by government schools.
To be held in partnership with the Sheikh Mohammed Centre for Cultural Understanding (SMCCU), the event will enhance new teachers' knowledge of Emirati history, culture, and heritage.
The first edition of what will be an annual event will host 500 expatriate teachers, and will be held at the SMCCU in Bastakia. Teachers will be hosted weekly in batches of 100.
Teachers will be introduced to the culture of the emirates, including traditions, societal structures, customs and religious practices. The aim is to help new teachers to better understand Emirati students, appreciate their aspirations and those of their parents, and enable them to reach their full potential.
The SMCCU works closely with schools in Dubai, and hosted events for over 14,000 teachers and educators from more than 60 schools during the last academic year.
