UAE to unify education across all public schools
September 4, 2017, 5:40 am GMTPublic schools across the UAE, overseen by the Ministry of Education and the Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC) will follow a standardised curriculum and education system.
Based on directives issued by UAE President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, the plan will unify the public education sector through the development of the Emirati School Model across all emirates
The development of the Emirati School Model has been closely monitored by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who considers it "essential to achieve supportive and well-informed education system capable of keeping up with future changes and developments."
Launched earlier this year, the Emirati School Model provides a rich curriculum, excellence in student skills and courses, as well as high quality of education in full alignment to the expectations of the vision of the UAE leadership for the education sector.

Both ADEC and the MoE will unveil the delivery of the unification plan to teachers, administration staff, students and parents during the 2017/18 academic year, which begins next week. However, students currently enroled in grades 11 and 12 in ADEC schools will continue their current curriculum
UAE Minister of Education Hussain Ibrahim Al Hammadi said: "The unification of Federal and Abu Dhabi education systems reflects the forward-looking vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan for the future of education in the UAE and the importance of supporting it with modern and up-to-date systems.
"Our students are the most important resource of the UAE. As leaders, we have an obligation to provide them with a modern international education, focused on our Emirati School Model, that matches the ambition and future plans of the UAE."
ADEC director general Dr Ali Al Nuaimi added: "Schools are the cornerstone of society. Their commitment to an aligned approach and a unified vision is the cornerstone to building a cohesive, collaborative society which shares common national convictions. Achieving this goal is the fundamental duty of the education institution. Students are the real wealth of the UAE. Providing support to them in every possible shape and form is one of the main priorities of our wise leadership."
