Sara Said wins Arabic Teacher of the Year title at EJME Awards
May 9, 2017, 6:30 pm GMTRaffles International School's Sara Said was named Arabic Teacher of the Year at the Education Journal Middle East Awards.
"I am overwhelmed and delighted to win this prestigious award. It is fantastic to know that the hard work, effort and dedication to raising standards of Arabic at RIS has reaped dividends. This award has given me extra confidence and something that will inspire me to work even harder to promote students' love of the Arabic language," Said enthused after winning the award.
Said's students consistently earn outstanding results in the IBT Arabic tests. The average score of students in Years 4, 5 and 6 is above Middle East averages in all year levels, as a result of excellent teaching. Additionally, Said also makes extensive use of technology in the classroom.
"At RIS, there is great emphasis on the effective use of technology to improve students' learning skills. Through continuous CPD opportunities and risk taking, I have been encouraged to implement tools such as Edmodo, Kahoot and other applications in lessons. This inspires and engages students, ultimately bringing their learning to life. As language encompasses a wide range of skills, I feel technology is essential in teaching effective lessons," she added.
The judges were also impressed with Highly Commended nominee Shaimaa Karara from Greenfield Community School.Other finalists included Muna Kamal from The Kindergarten Starters, and Neamat Diab from Jumeirah Primary School
The Education Journal Middle East Awards were held on May 3 at Grosvenor House Dubai.
