Qatar's Bedaya runs summer camp for high school and university students
September 2, 2015, 5:36 am GMTQatar's Bedaya Centre for Entrepreneurship and Career Development held a week-long summer camp from August 23-27 for 70 university and high school students from various educational institutions.
The summer camp included workshops focusing on communication skills, personality analysis, leadership skills, business development, and CV writing.
Other activities included visits to an aqua park, the Museum of Islamic Art, and Sheikh Faisal Museum, parasailing, and art and hand crafting sessions.
At the end of the summer camp, students were tasked with shadowing assignments at local companies, based on their career interests. Participating companies included QNB for those interested in a business and marketing career, SIDRA – aimed at students interested in administration and medical careers, QF's legal department for budding lawyers and paralegal aspirants, QChem for those interested in petrochemical engineering, HMC for students considering medical careers, and the Aljazeera network (appealing to those interested in media and PR careers).
Bedaya Center general manager Reem Al Suwaidi said: "Bedaya's summer camp gave students who attended a great opportunity to use their summer holidays in a very productive way to learn some key workplace skills and further their career interests by experiencing working in their chosen career in job shadowing placements."
