Fujairah teacher wins AED1 million Emirates Innovative Teacher Award
February 13, 2017, 2:35 pm GMTEmirati teacher Mariam Rashid Suleiman Al Zeyoudi of Fujairah's Al Massa School for Secondary Education was named the winner of the AED1 million Emirates Innovative Teacher Award.
HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, presented the award to Al Zeyoudi on day two of the World Government Summit in Dubai.
Al Zeyoudi, holder of a master's degree and 4.0 GPA, created several interactive and innovative initiatives to reconnect the UAE youth with the Arabic language. These included an Arabic language academy, teacher's smart card initiative, the 'Start' initiative, and improvement on the structure of exam schedules, among others.
A partnership between the UAE Ministry of Education and GEMS Education, the award aims to promote innovative Emirati teachers in public, private or technical schools in the UAE.
Ebtisam Ahmad Al Shemeili, a physics teacher at Ro'ya school in Ras Al Khaimah won the inaugural award in 2016.
