Dubai schools recognised for TIMSS and PISA performance
April 26, 2017, 3:55 pm GMTHH Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, UAE Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, felicitated students in the UAE for outstanding performance in the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA), and Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study (TIMSS) 2015 tests.
Dubai College students were awarded the first place award for TIMSS out of all the schools in the UAE. Students at the College scored 669 in TIMSS Maths and 672 in TIMSS Science. These scores put students at the College above the top performing country in the world, Singapore. Dubai College students were also awarded the first place award in PISA tests out of all schools in the UAE. Their scores in Reading, Maths and Science were also all above the top performing country in the world, Singapore.
Four GEMS Education schools were also recognised for exceptional performance in international assessments at the awards ceremony organised by the Supreme Council of Education, UAE Ministry of Education and Higher Education.
The GEMS schools include Dubai American Academy, GEMS Modern Academy and Jumeirah College, who were honoured for being among the highest performing UAE schools in the PISA 2015 results. GEMS Wellington International School was also recognised for being the second highest scoring school next to Dubai College in the results.
