August 30, 2015, 5:24 am GMTThe Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC) has launched the second edition of the Journey of Discovery campaign, focusing on innovation in schools and universities across Abu Dhabi.
As part of the campaign, schools in Abu Dhabi will get 225 Innovation Clubs with laboratories in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).
The STEM labs will allow students to gain hands-on experience in subjects such as robotics, transportation technology, renewable energy, and computer coding.
ADEC is also rolling out a number of initiatives and competitions to complement the innovation clubs, including Programming for Life, Young Scientist Competition, Abu Dhabi Innovates, Innovation Ambassadors, and Innovative Leaders.
A social media campaign has also been designed to encourage parents to participate in the education of their children.
ADEC director general H.E. Dr Amal Al Qubaisi commented: "Innovation is the nation's bridge to the future, and is not new to the UAE and its leadership, since it has always played an integral role in driving major initiatives forward throughout the history of the Emirate, both on a national and international level."
