Meet the principal: Brendon Fulton
September 7, 2016, 9:00 am GMTBrendon Fulton has been promoted to principal at Dubai British School, after having served as head of secondary for a year.
In his first year as head, Fulton says he will prioritise improving communication with parents to ensure they have ongoing access to information and opportunities to ask any questions or raise concerns.
"Parents pay good money and put a huge amount of faith in us to look after their children and to give them the appropriate opportunities to succeed. We want to make sure that our parents have ongoing access to information and opportunities to ask and have any questions or concerns answered to their full satisfaction," he notes.
Fulton will also oversee the implementation of major improvements in areas such as KS3 curriculum and assessment, reporting structures, and Arabic and Islamic Studies. He will also focus on continuing to improve the school's inspection ratings, after DBS moved up to Very Good this year, following five years being rated Good.
He says: "My main goal will be to entrench the development work that has been taking place over the last few years. I therefore see next year less about big changes and more about subtle adjustments and refocusing efforts on improving the experience of our students.
"Improvement needs to be incremental and so we will continue to reflect on what we do well and develop in areas that we need to, and have been.
"Our major focus will be on continuing the improvements in Arabic & Islamic Studies and ensuring that all DBS students are able to talk confidently about life in the UAE and what it means to be growing up in an increasingly globalised society."
