EJME Awards: Meet the sponsors
May 1, 2017, 3:20 pm GMTAs you read this, the judging panel have picked their winners, and the Education Journal ME team is busy putting the finishing touches to the Education Journal Middle East Awards ahead of the inaugural event.
In its first year, the Education Journal Middle East Awards received more than 200 nominations a list that was then whittled down to 72 candidates by the editorial team.
The winners will be revealed at the gala event on May 3, 2017 at Grosvenor House Dubai, which will bring together nearly 250 of the UAE's leading educators and school groups for an evening of celebration.
With so many schools being developed across the region, we look forward to seeing the industry's bright sparks, rising stars, unsung heroes get together to network, share their success stories, and discuss plans for an exciting future in education.
None of this would have been possible without our sponsors. In this issue, we speak to our supporters to find out what they're looking forward to at the event.
SCHOOL TRANSPORT SERVICES
ML AUGUSTINE, MANAGING DIRECTOR
Why is it important for you to support the EJME Awards?
We hope Education Journal Middle East Awards will be a useful medium to take our message to all the school authorities in the UAE. Our advice to the head of schools is that school transportation should be outsourced to specialists such as STS. Parents of more than 75,000 students we provide transportation for are happy and confident with our services.
What are you most excited about when it comes to this year's ceremony?
STS works with a large number of schools on a daily basis. It is exciting for us to participate in their celebration when many of their staff are being awarded. We also hope the event will give us an opportunity to interact with educators and heads of schools about the safety aspects of transportation.
ATLAB
SENTHIL KUGAN, GENERAL MANAGER
Why is it important for you to support the EJME Awards?
A teacher is an influential partner in a student's learning journey. Atlab recognises the noble efforts of the teachers who go that extra mile to make a difference. The awards are a way of appreciating the educators who give it their all. By being a part of the EJME Awards, Atlab would like to show our support and appreciation to the educators in the region.
What are you most excited about when it comes to this year's ceremony?
Apart from the excitement build-up, right up to the finalists being announced, it will be a great opportunity to be in the same room with the educators, cheer them on and share in their moment of glory. The event is also an opportunity to experience the feeling of oneness and solidarity among the fraternity.
TELLAL INSTITUTE
LINDA RUSH, SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT
Why is it important for you to support the EJME Awards?
I think that opportunities to celebrate the qualities and achievements of those who work with our children are ones that we should encourage and actively engage with. Awards are only one part of celebrating the work of those with whom we entrust the learning and development of our children. Learning for all of us; thinking about what we do, reflecting on that, and being committed to doing things even better, can all be captured in the pages of the Education Journal Middle East. I hope both the awards and the journal become a long established feature for the educational community here in the UAE.
What are you most excited about when it comes to this year's ceremony?
TELLAL is absolutely committed to promoting and supporting the education and training of all of those involved in early years and foundation stage education. It's so important that we get that stage right for all our children. Indeed, a key demand for a successful UAE economy is the availability of a world-class educational system and that has to start with the early years and the work done by those practitioners and teaching assistants across all our schools. The Institute TELLAL, through its initiatives on supporting an apprenticeship model of teacher training recognises and values the significant contribution made by teaching assistants in our schools. A key part of TELLAL's work is to promote, support and develop a school workforce that reflects the diversity and cosmopolitan nature of the UAE. In many ways those who work as teaching assistants do themselves reflect this positive aspect of the society here in Dubai.
ICADEMY MIDDLE EAST
CODY CLAVER, GENERAL MANAGER
Why is it important for you to support the EJME Awards?
I feel it is important to take time to reflect on the accomplishments and achievements of those individuals and organisations that are impacting teaching and learning. EJME has become a trusted and reliable source of information about education in the Middle East, thus fitting that they would introduce an awards programme of such high magnitude.
What are you most excited about when it comes to this year's ceremony?
I am excited for the opportunity to just be in the same room as so many influential educators and hear each nominee's unique story of challenge and success. I hope to be able to learn and connect with them. I have no doubt it will be a great night of recognition and celebration of every nominee.
RISALLA EL GHAD
RANIA NASR, MANAGING DIRECTOR
Why is it important for you to support the EJME Awards?
We strongly believe in celebrating the achievements of the Arabic educators who are working hard to make a difference and raising the progress and attainment levels of their students. Those teachers deserve to be addressed as models by sharing their unique work through social media. Their work will inspire other teachers and and strengthen the national identity of the UAE.
What are you most excited about when it comes to this year's ceremony?
I am excited to meet the big crowd of educators who have stood out in their field to offer their students the best learning experience to improve their performance as well as to raise their school's achievement levels to new heights which will positively impact the students' future.

VIKRANT CHHABRA, MANAGING DIRECTOR
Why is it important for you to support the EJME Awards?
This platform gives us an opportunity to recognise and reward the people responsible for laying a strong foundation for the country. These educationists/pioneers work towards improving the standard of education in the region, thus bringing about positive transformation as a whole in the country.
What are you most excited about when it comes to this year's ceremony?
This is a platform where you get to meet the pioneers from the education industry in person, which seldom happens.
